African health ministers, others pledge improved access to vaccines

African health ministers, political leaders and technical experts have pledged to ensure improved access to vaccines to reduce child mortality, morbidity and disability in the continent.

They also pledged to keep immunisation at the forefront of efforts to reduce child killer-diseases.

Nigeria’s President Buhari declares total support for Palestinian State

President Muhammadu Buhari has declared his total support for a two-state solution to the Israel- Palestine conflict.

The Nigerian President stated this during a meeting on Sunday with the Emir of Qatar, Tamim Bin Hammad Al-Thani, his spokesperson, Femi Adesina, said.

A Muslim group has responded to allegations of an Islamic agenda levelled against President Muhammadu Buhari, by Ayo Fayose, Governor of Ekiti state, saying the governor was suffering from “diarrhea of the mouth”.

The group, Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC), a pressure group headed by Professor Ishaq Akintola, responded to Fayose in a press statement released on Sunday.

An Egyptian court has sentenced a four-year-old boy, Ahmed Mansour Karni, to life in prison for committing four murders, attempting another eight, vandalising property and threatening police officers – all before the age of two

Born in September 2012, Ahmed Mansour Karni was swept up in an indictment listing his name along with 115 other defendants accused of participating in riots and demonstrations on January 3, 2014.

Despite that fact that Ahmed was only a year and a half old at the time, he was convicted in absentia and sentenced to life in prison along with 115 defendants who were all handed life sentences at the same time at the court in western Cairo for crimes allegedly committed in early 2014.

The Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi has commended the Nigerian Shippers' Council, NSC, for promoting Dry Port and Truck Transit Park, TTP, in Kaduna State and across the country, expressing optimism that the project will provide stimulus to the economy of the State and the country at large.

Speaking on Friday at the collaborative seminar organised by the Nigerian Shippers' Council and Inland Container Nigeria Limited, ICNL, in Kaduna, Amaechi said the Dry Port and TTP projects were conceived as part of solution to the problem of hinterland shipers' inadequate access to seaports and frequent congestion.

Governor Ayodele Fayose has rejected the adoption of Treasury Single Account (TSA) in Ekiti State urging the Federal Government to face the dwindling economy of the country.

Fayose, in a statement by Lere Olayinka, his special assistant on new media, described the policy as a “fraud”, flaying Udo Udoma, Minister of Budget and National Planning, for his inability to “prepare a simple budget.”
